Exclusive House with Canadian Hot Tub

Positive: Very clean and modern

Nice property, but unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend booking Positive: It is a real shame to leave a negative review as we did genuinely enjoy our stay. The property itself is lovely, well decorated and generally well maintained. The location is excellent, and there is parking for two cars — one space directly outside the property and another approximately a five-minute walk away. The host was also very helpful, friendly and professional throughout our stay. There is only one bathroom/toilet at the property, which is worth being aware of if you are staying with a larger group. Unfortunately, the main issue for us was the hot tub. Although it is a nice feature, we did not feel that it was clean or in an acceptable condition when we arrived. The water was cloudy/murky and contained lots of small particles. We contacted the host during our stay to make them aware of this and were told that the water can sometimes look a little cloudy and that the small white particles could possibly be from the hot tub cover, with reassurance that it was nothing to worry about and that we could safely continue using it. Three out of the four guests in our group used the hot tub, and since returning home, those same three guests have developed symptoms consistent with hot-tub folliculitis. The one guest who did not use the hot tub has not developed these symptoms. We obviously cannot medically confirm that the hot tub was the cause, but the fact that every person who used it has subsequently developed similar symptoms, while the person who didn’t use it hasn’t, is extremely concerning to us. We contacted the host again before writing this review to make them aware. We were told that the water is completely changed after every guest stay and that the hot tub is thoroughly cleaned and treated before the next guests arrive. We appreciate that this is apparently their standard procedure, but given the condition of the hot tub when we arrived, and what has happened since, we find this difficult to reconcile with our experience. Overall a brilliant stay and would use again. Positive: Lovely property, close to the beach. Very comfortable and spacious and had everything you needed. Hot tub was an excellent addition and we used it loads. Host was lovely and on hand if you had any questions. Negative: Situated in a strange place, had sheltered housing around you, which was pretty noisy at night. Had to close the windows to block out the noise.But don’t let that put you off.
